Healthy Eating Show for Secondary Schools

The Man from the Council

What's it about?

Where food comes from – how the body uses it – the five main food groups – the need for a balanced diet.

What's it like?

Pupils are encouraged to believe they are watching a serious presentation from an “expert” from the council. But as his talk continues, his attempts to be serious are undermined by an anarchic assistant.

A mixture of humour and education, specifically designed for years 7 and 8, this show communicates a large amount of information in a very subtle way.

At the end of the show, pupils are asked to recall all the information in the show by helping a volunteer remember all the things that they are shown on a conveyor belt.

Is there a teachers pack?

Each show is accompanied by a Teachers Pack suggesting curriculum links, follow up ideas and activities.

What age group is the show suitable for?

Secondary School Years 7 and 8.
